Welcome to my channel! I''''m Patrick and this is Patmax Adventures! I''''m originally from California and have been living abroad for the past four years. I decided to start this channel to share my experiences and passion for travel with others. My goal with this channel is to share and show as much as I can of the World. My focus will always be on the culture, food and of course the local people of everywhere I travel to! I''''m an optimist and always try to highlight the positives of a place rather than just the negatives.Though I will also be bluntly honest at times too! If you love travel and exploring far away places, then you found the right place!

What are your impressions of China? Have you visited China before?

Yes this is my seventh time in China.Iam attached to a Chinese women but we are based in Sydney. My impression are mostly positive anything is efficient and the people always friendly

Been there many times over last 15 years. Food, culture, scenery, high speed train, feels safe, no violent racists and super affordable. Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore all seem like what China will be one day but on a much larger scale. Dislikes....people spitting in the streets (less of that now but still there), squatting toilets, aggressive vendors (too much in your face).

When I went to London in the 90s and it had the most cameras that any city and reported that it covered nearly all public areas, but no Westerner said anything about that. Just negative perception of China so when China does it, it’s considered 1984

Have you been to England patmax? They have 64mil cameras in and around the country!Thank you for your fair, honest, accurate and more importantly not condescending comments about China and it''''s people. You''''re welcome anytime.

The typical answer would be "First impression of China is worst country ever on the planet. People starving have nothing to eat except dogs. No I have never been to China, that''''s what the news say..."

Chinese are very conscious about others view but and are very protective of their exterior pride and face, one must praises it constantly as it is not getting much love from the media outside

No one on the other end of the camera is watching you, and the information is recorded on a large capacity hard drive.Only after the crime has occurred there will it be watched by the police, and the hard disk will be cleared after a while. No one except the criminal feels offended.Eliminate your tension and wish you a happy time in China.

It is just like those camera install in our car. It is keep recording very 5 to 10 minutes depending how we set it until the SD card is full. Then it will automatically dexe from the very first recording and if nothing happen we don''''t need to view them. So basically no one is watch you unless something happen.

You are right. And many of the cameras are used for collecting traffic data, so your GPS navigator will work better!

No body will be interested in these camera recorded videos. They will be used only in special case like traffic accident.
We are somtimes complaining that some part of china is still not covered by camera making some accident difficult to be solved

Ke Huang It makes senses. If everybody in the country is hired to keep an eye on every camera, there still won’t be close to enough people.

Jiaming HUANG
Agreed, we heard more about complain ''''not covered by camera?'''' in News rather than ''''my privacy being observed''''.If an accident happened, the officer will apologize and promise will cover later.
Chinese thinking in a very different way. They ask salary range, care about if young men and lady having partner. Sometimes not even Chinese give themselves use to these.BTW, my cousin make money by setting up camera system. he set up my house security system. many these camera a privately own.before that my house stolen for 4 times in 10 years. none of this happen after setting up.

Trust me it''''s better to have camera everywhere than no camera, you feel safer. If you are not doing
anything illegal, why not? This is why China is one of the safest country in the world.

Also, as some one who lived in London for a couple of years, Shenzhen may have more cameras, but Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities are no match to London.

I''''m Vietnamese. Honestly, public camera is BEST!!! No one have time to watching you or anyone. It only records to see if anything happen or trouble then it cause the criminal only. And i don''''t mind if Government out public camera to watching us on train, bus, street as long as it PUBLIC to protect us.
Each day have thousands & millions people walking around, past & past. NO ONE to watching you or anyone. They only watching if there are criminal acts or something, they''''re rewatching again.
Unless, it public camera it okay, i feel safe. But i argee sometimes if they using too much camera in same places, it a bit uncomfortable. Like if we did something''''s private or playing with friend,guys,etc.l.kiss or hugging and things get record even it far ways not zoom in to your face but it kinda...uhm
ONLY problems is if there is hidden camera from asshole creepy guys if they want to spy you and watching you in toilet or dress zoom or hotels. it criminal & suck a shit

About spitting, I completely agree with you. Yes, some people, (especially older, uneducated) have this bad habit, not much from young generation. A lot of Chinese are also deeply bothered by this too, especially in clean subway, bus, public space. One of the reasons is the poor air quality. With improved air quality, and educated young generation, things will become much better. Every year I return to China, glad to see things are getting better and better.
Spitting and excessive smoking are indeed problems for Chinese people. The only good thing is that most of the uncivilized people are middle-aged and elderly people without higher education, and the new generation of young people is changing. It took 40 years for China to move from a poor country to the second largest economy. It may take another 40 years for China to become a truly developed, highly civilized, democratic and open country, which may require the efforts of one or two generations. In a word, as a Chinese, I warmly welcome you to visit China.(My English is not good. I use Baidu translation.)

I believe China is heading int hat direction as well.

Well. Speaking of strange uncivilized behaviours, India and Indonesia have their unique own which can even rival China. When I was in Mumbai, I personally saw so many people pooping on the beach. That''''s why you can never find a single local swimming on the beach there.
