That’s a big question and I suppose the answer depends on what you’re looking for in a vacation.
If you’re after sun and relaxation then I’d say one of the smaller Caribbean Islands is a good choice. In Europe, I’d probably choose the Canary Islands.
For culture and history, I’d probably choose Italy. I travel there a lot and I do love it. There’s so much to see - art galleries, museums, historical sights. Great for touring on road trips or by train. I’m particularly attached to Tuscany but really anywhere in Italy is great.

For something much more exotic I love China. Again, there is so much to see and do. So much diversity from cities to the countryside, mountains, rice fields, rivers etc. It has everything from ancient to modern. Where else can you see something as amazing as the Great Wall? It’s also great value for money.
I could go on really. I don’t think there’s the best country to travel to but I do think there are some that are real favourites of mine.

Firstly you should start off by travelling to places where you can get lots of information on travel there and what to see and do. Places that are generally safe for tourists. Places like: The U.S., Australia, Vietnam, China.
With more experience at travel move onto countries which are not huge tourist "hotspots" as such. I would suggest: Scandinavia, backpacking in Asia and Europe. Start to break away from tourist to traveller at this point.
